A HOME REBUILT - A LIFE RESTORED / Elderly Couple Gets A Surprise In The Philippines!

This is a follow-up to Pea's earlier typhoon relief video. She returns to the fishing village of Bais to rebuild the home of Nanay Catalina and Tatay Cerelino, the elderly couple she found living under a tarp with no food after Typhoon Rai destroyed everything they had. Pea purchases all building materials, hires a five-man construction crew, and later provides money for a new fishing boat — documenting the entire process from hardware store to finished house tour.

Pea goes to the hardware store and buys all necessary building materials ​

• Hires a five-man crew to do the construction
• Hires a truck driver to transport supplies to the fishing village
• The village is inaccessible by any vehicle other than motorbike, so every piece of building material has to be hand-carried down a narrow path to the construction site

Delivering the surprise to Nanay and Tatay ​

• When Pea arrives, signs of the typhoon are still everywhere — the old man's fishing boat has had its bow ripped clean off by the storm
• Neighbors had lent the couple some corrugated tin because they couldn't sleep during rainy days with only a tarp overhead
• Pea tells them she's going to rebuild their house; Nanay gets emotional and says that despite all the bad things, there are still people willing to help
• Pea gives them cash for food and expenses while the house is being built

The couple's story: 59 years of marriage ​

• Married since 1963 — Pea does the math in real time when they say 59 years
• When asked the secret to a happy marriage, Nanay says: communication, keep your promises — "not just in this life but even after life"
• They go fishing together as their bonding activity — it's like a date

Three days of construction ​

• The crew works overtime, continuing past sundown
• Tatay "supervised everything" — making sure it was all done right, though he didn't do physical carpentry
• Nanay helped by handing tools to the workers
• Both enjoyed the rebuilding process as bonding time together
• Materials: cocoa lumber, plywood, and corrugated tin; house is 10 by 12 feet, enough for the couple

The finished house tour ​

• Front area: the couple plans to make an outdoor living space for coffee at sunset
• No front door — they'll just use a curtain, which is normal; "everyone's their relative, their friends — it's pretty safe"
• Storage area inside for food and clothing; their old cabinet survived the typhoon but lost its glass/mirror
• Bedroom: they have a cushion mattress that Nanay is drying because it got wet; no electricity — they use candles and a small lamp at night
• Old damaged house is repurposed as an outdoor kitchen for cooking
• The key improvement: no more rain getting in — "they're safe, they can sleep better"

Pea provides money for a new fishing boat ​

• Tatay's old boat was destroyed by the typhoon, stripping him of his livelihood
• Pea had promised in her previous visit to do something about the boat, and follows through with cash for a new one
• Tatay is visibly happy; Pea tells him to take Nanay out on "a romantic fishing escapade"
• When asked what they talk about while fishing, Nanay says they reminisce about the past and their sweet memories together
• Tatay confirms he's still in love with Nanay after all these years — "it's a big fat yes"

Pea's emotional closing ​

• "A house rebuilt and a life restored"
• As she says goodbye, she feels "light as a feather, as if a great wrong had been set right"
• Imagines them together in their little home, reliving memories and rejoicing in their life together
